A group of Oakridge residents are in the early stages of creating a plan for the development of an Oakridge Community Garden later this spring.
And if you have a green thumb or are simply interested in seeing a concept like this come to fruition, volunteers are now being recruited. The 10-person committee will look at issues like land use, soil quality, power and water access, along with the impact to neighbours.
“We are interested in volunteers who can assist with developing a plan consistent with City of Calgary guidelines and acceptable to the Oakridge Community Association board,” said OCA board member Hugh Stewart. “There are a lot of hurdles to get over, but at least this will establish a plan that could be implemented.”
Other communities around Oakridge, like Cedarbrae and Woodcreek, already have community gardens in place.
Those interested and willing to volunteer are asked to contact Hugh at hughrstewart@gmail.com.
