Plant Exchange 2020 this weekend as Oakridge Community Garden starts taking shape
The Oakridge Community Garden (OCG), an initiative led by the Oakridge Community Association (OCA)’s Hugh Stewart and a group of dedicated volunteers, is starting to take shape just east of the outdoor rink.
This past week, five raised beds were installed at the site, with several more expected to be installed this week. Also being delivered this week is soil and compost for the beds, as the volunteers prepare for planting possibly as early as this weekend.
And also this weekend, the OCG/OCA Plant Exchange will take place in the parking lot in front of the Oakridge Community Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th. Because of social distancing rules due to COVID-19, participants must register in advance for the exchange.
If you are interested in registering, please email Elaine Smith, OCG events coordinator, at 2eavsmith@gmail.com by Wednesday, May 27th. Once registered, you will be scheduled into time slots for “plant drop off” in the morning and “plant selection” in the afternoon.
