The City of Calgary is asking area residents for feedback on an upgrade to the Palliser Sanitary Lift Station at the intersection of 90th Avenue and 24th Street S.W.
The existing lift station, located at the entrance to South Glenmore Park, was built in 1968 and requires some significant infrastructure upgrades, according to The City of Calgary web site. “Because this lift station is located at the entrance to one of Calgarian’s favourite city parks, we want to give citizens and local residents the option to help choose the exterior finish – and help ensure it matches the aesthetic of the community and natural park surroundings,” the web site says.
A sanitary lift station is essentially a pump that moves sanitary wastewater towards The City’s wastewater treatment facilities when gravity is not an option due to the elevation of an area, according to The City of Calgary web site.
Residents are asked to visit: https://engage.calgary.ca/PalliserLift and provide their opinions on two different designs for the station. The City of Calgary will report back on the results later this year, with constructions on the new lift station scheduled to take place next summer. Once complete, the life cycle of the lift station will be extended another 25 to 30 years.
