Construction on Oakridge Arena roof now underway
The Oakridge Arena is getting a new roof to replace the original one that is now decades old and had been deteriorating badly over the last few years.
The roof replacement project started on April 15th and should be completed by the first week of May.
The total cost of the replacement is $236,427 and it has been funded through a $75,000 provincial grant through the Community Facility Enhancement Project, with the balance from the City of Calgary through the Capital Conservation Grant.
The project was approved by the Oakridge Community Association board back in early March, prior to the Oakridge Community Centre and Arena being closed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Besides the roof repair, painting and outside repairs to the entire building will also take place through April and May, with all workers explicitly following COVID-19 rules and regulations.
