After being at the front of the line for the last couple of years, seeing its streets swept in early April, Oakridge has fallen to the back in 2021 and won’t see street sweepers in the community until June 8th.
The two-month delay compared to previous years is just the luck of the draw, and is based on the City of Calgary’s attempts to be equitable to all communities over the years.
Cleaning the city’s 16,000 kilometres of roadways is expected to be completed in late June, so Oakridge will be one of the last communities cleaned.
Street cleaning occurs on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and signage will appear in neighbourhoods about a week before the cleaning, reminding neighbours to remove vehicles from streets or face a $120 fine.
