Oakridge could see addition of fourth liquor store
Oakridge residents could soon have a fourth liquor store in their community, if a new development permit application is approved.
Notification of the application appeared quietly two weeks ago when a sign went up in front of the vacant space in the strip mall on Oakfield Drive S.W. The location, which most recently housed a dry-cleaning business, has been vacant for years.
The application is for a “change of use to allow for: Liquor Store, which is a store that sells alcoholic beverages for consumption off-site.” There’s no indication when a decision will be made on the application.
If approved, it will mean Oakridge will be home to four different liquor stores. Co-op Wine, Spirits and Beer, RB Canadian Liquor Store, and Ace Liquor Discounter all presently operate in the community.
