Concert in the Garden takes place Sept. 9th at Oakridge Community Garden

The Oakridge Community Garden (OCG) and the Oakridge Seniors Association (OSA) will be co-presenting a “Concert in the Garden” on Wednesday, Sept. 9th at 1:30 p.m.

Well-known songster and musical comedian Paul Finkleman will provide the afternoon’s musical entertainment. Finkleman has performed at numerous folk festivals and on multiple theatre stages across Alberta for years. Four years ago, Finkleman received the Lieutenant Governor’s Stars of Alberta award for his performing and volunteer work.

Guests are asked to bring a $2 donation to the OCG as an entry fee, and also a lawn chair or blanket. Hula hoops will be set up around the garden to encourage social distancing among all attendees.

The OCG is located directly east of the outdoor rink, behind the Oakridge Community Centre.

All 27 beds in the OCG were fully planted in early July and early crops continue to be harvested.

With the OCG sign, compost bins and drainage now complete, the next priorities are a herb garden, a vertical garden, and perennial beds. More information on all of these initiatives will be provided soon.
