Hello Neighbour

Welcome to the Oakridge Monitor, where we document what's happening in the southwest Calgary community of Oakridge.

Oakridge Community Centre slowly begins to re-open

As restrictions slowly lift across the city, our Oakridge community is starting to come back to life.

While the Oakridge Community Centre itself remains closed for now, the Oakridge tennis courts have re-opened for tennis and pickleball. Bookings have to be made through the Oakridge community web site (www.oakridgecommunity.ca) and you must be a member of either the community association or the Oakridge Racquet Club to use the courts.

When playing, players should use their own marked tennis balls; bring hand sanitizer with them to the court; avoid touching any surfaces; and should maintain at least two meters from others on the court.

The Out-Of-School-Care Program has partially re-open at the community centre with a maximum of 16 children allowed, who will be divided between two rooms. Due to Alberta Health Services regulations, no part-time care or drop-ins are allowed.

Registrations for July and August should be submitted as soon as possible, as they are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. More details on fall registration will be provided soon.

And it is expected that playgrounds in and around Oakridge will re-open on June 1st, based on the provincial government’s re-opening plan. Playgrounds have been off limits to children for two and a half months due to the pandemic.
