Hello Neighbour

Welcome to the Oakridge Monitor, where we document what's happening in the southwest Calgary community of Oakridge.

Ward 11 Town Hall takes place on Sept. 20th

Jeromy Farkas, Councillor for Ward 11 (in which Oakridge resides), will be hosting one of his regular town halls on Thursday, Sept. 20th at Southwood Community Centre.

The town hall, which runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m., is an opportunity for residents to ask questions of Farkas on a whole variety of topics that affect their community. According to Farkas, some of the biggest concerns he’s hearing about in the neighbourhood centre around construction, taxes, and whether the city should bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Farkas has made it clear that he’s prepared to fight against the proposed two to three per cent tax increase rumoured to be coming from city hall next year. And he’s also let it be known that he’s not in favour of hosting another Olympics, especially when the final bill still hasn’t been tallied.

If you are interest in discussing these, or any other topics, with Farkas, you should attend the town hall on Sept. 20th. The Southwood Community Centre is located at 11 Sackville Drive S.W.
